Spaghetti in White Sauce Recipe: Enjoy Italian at home

It's Sunday afternoon...time to head for a delicious brunch and “Italian cuisine” in your mind. Wow! the very thought is so delicious. Oh, but wait a minute…the scorching heat outside is not going to give you a single incentive to step out of your house.

Not to worry! We are here to delight you with a step by step simple recipe to prepare delicious spaghetti pasta in the white sauce at home. Ready to eat in less than twenty minutes! It couldn't have been simpler than this. Here you go...

Step by Step guide for Spaghetti in White Sauce Recipe


  • Serves 2 persons
  • Spaghetti (pasta)- 200gms
  • Bell Pepper (Red, Yellow and Green)- 1 medium sized, each
  • White button mushrooms- 1.5 cups (optional)
  • Boiled chunks of chicken- 1.5 cups (optional)
  • Onion- 1 large sized
  • Garlic- 2-3 slices
  • Olive Oil- 2-3 tbsp
  • Cornflour- 2.5 tbsp
  • White milk- 2 cups
  • Butter or Cheese- 2-3 tbsp (optional)
  • Dry herbs (oregano/basil/chilli flakes/parsley/mix of your choice)- ½-2tsp
  • Salt and pepper- to taste


Step 1:

Boil water in a pan. Add salt and few drops of oil into it. As the water comes to boiling, add the spaghetti pasta into it and let it boil till it is completely cooked. When the pasta is completely boiled, strain it and rinse it with normal water. Drain the water and add few drops of oil to the pasta to avoid the strands of spaghetti getting sticky. Keep aside the pasta.

Step 2:

Cut and chop the vegetables in slices, in the shape of a diamond preferably. Now, take another pan and add olive oil or butter to it. When it is heated/melted, then add garlic and onions to it. Stir fry and saute till its golden brown and soft. Add mushrooms/chicken to it and saute till its cooked or slightly brown. Please note that you can avoid both chicken and mushroom in the recipe in case you don’t prefer any of the two.

Step 3:

Now add the chopped bell peppers into the mixture and saute it. In a bowl, add cornflour and cold water. Mix it to prepare a smooth paste till there are no lumps in it. Add this paste to the mixture in the pan and mix properly.

Step 4:

Pour milk into the pan and keep stirring. Let the sauce thicken. Add salt, pepper and dry herbs to it. When the sauce is thickened to the desired consistency, add the boiled pasta to it. Stir well and let it boil for 1-2 minutes.

Step 5:

Take the pan off the flame and add grated cheese to it, if you prefer.

Your yummy homemade spaghetti pasta in white sauce is ready to be served hot with garlic bread/roasted normal bread. Enjoy the heavenly taste ?
