These modern art knife paintings by Kritika Sinha, will definitely take you by awe. She has been painting since she was 10 years old. We asked her about her tryst with knife paintings and her inspiration to switch from a ‘brush’ to a ‘knife’.
Here’s what she had to say- “Painting with the same brushes was getting monotonous day by day. I desperately wanted to break the monotony. Coincidently, one day I misplaced my old brush. I asked my brother to get a new brush on his way back home. But I couldn’t wait to complete the painting. I picked up a knife lying on the kitchen table and decided to paint the background with it. After completing it, I found a stark difference between the area painted with the brush and another one with the knife. It was exactly what I was waiting for”.
Thereafter, she has been using knives for all her paintings. I was amazed to discover the secret tool behind them. Her paintings remind me of a beautiful quote by Mr. W.B. Yeats. He says-
“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper”.
Indeed, the world is full of magic things. A tool which is malicious to you and me is giving life to a coarse canvas on the wooden stand. It is all in the mind and the boundary of a creative mind goes to infinity. You can train your mind to move into realms of perception, which a common man dares not to.
