Skipping breakfast every day? Have a look at the happiness you deprive yourself off; by skipping the magical morning food.
1.OAT MEAL PORRIDGE : (with nuts and fruits of your choice, like banana, walnuts, apple and almonds). Oats are a good source of carbohydrates, lots of fibre, and makes you feel full throughout the day. With nuts and fruits, you get the dose of vitamins and minerals that your body needs.
2.MUESLI : (either with milk or with curd) Add nuts, strawberries and honey!And darling, the world is yours! It’s another form of cereal dense product full of oats, cornflakes, rice bran and nutrients.
3.PARATHA SABZI : (Nothing is as comforting as your desi roti sabzi or paratha sabzi combination.) If sabji is over, grab paneer, carrot, grate it, saute in oil, add salt, pepper and a pinch of chat masala; stuff it and your paratha is ready.
4.SCRAMBLED EGGS OR POACHED OR OMELET WITH WHOLE WHEAT BREAD TOASTED : I love eggs! So do you. This combo provides you with protein and carbohydrate early in the morning and you are ready to rock your world.
5.FLAKED RICE WITH LOTS OF VEGGIES : What exactly is this? Relax! It’s your “poha” or “chirer pulao”. Instead of adding only onion and potatoes, add carrot, peas and you are ready for the day.
6.SEMOLINA WITH VEGGIES : My beloved upma. Cook your upma with the vegetables you like. Semolina is a good source of carbohydrate. It keeps your brain working and makes you feel fresh throughout the day.
TWIST IN THE TALE-
7.BANANA PANCAKES : Nothing as good as yummy pancakes. Combine flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and in a separate bowl mix vegetable oil, egg, banana and milk. After blending it together add it into the combined mixture of flour. When you get a batter of a good consistency, then pour it on a pan with oil and allow it to cook. You can serve your pancakes with honey drizzled over it. It’s a power pack of carbohydrates and protein with the benefits of banana.
8.SANDWICH : No leftover chapatis, no time to make chapattis; grab your VEGGIES- carrot, paneer or soya granules, saute in oil, add salt and pepper and place in between your slices of bread (whole wheat bread). Want to make it more simple? Grate the carrot and cook it for a while. When you put it on bread, grate your favourite cheese, cover it with another bread and toast it from both sides for a while.
9.IDLIES : Try this! You’ll feel full till your next meal. It is another combination of cereals and pulses working together. The best part about idlis is that it is steamed. Along with sambar, it’s a perfect combination of cereals and pulses.
10.BLEND IN MAGIC : For those who are still lazing around and skipping breakfast has been their habit; boil your milk and allow it to cool down(till then, go brush your teeth and twist a little). Now add your milk, a banana, a tsp of coffee, honey and blend it all. And there you go. You are all set for a power packed day.
I am sure now you will be more thankful for the food you eat. If they can come in so many forms and in so many ways, please don’t find reasons to skip your breakfast. It’s the best thing to start your day with. Find every reason to fill you with all the energy required to live your life king size. And trust me, you will see a difference in yourself.
