Wow! What a treat in this burning summer. Aam Panna is the tangy summer cooler that we all love to have. Away from home? Missing the Aam Panna made by “Ma” and “Dadi”? Not to worry. We have a step by step guide exclusively for you, straight from Mumma’s recipe book. This is definitely something all of you reading the recipe can make. Simpler than ever…here comes the tangy refresher!
Raw mangoes- 2 medium sized
Mint leaves- 3 tbsp
Cumin powder- ¼ tsp
Black salt- ½ tsp
Salt- 1/2 tsp
Crushed ice- 1 large bowl
Take the mangoes and wash them thoroughly. Take 2 cups water in a pressure cooker and add mangoes to it. Do not cut, chop or peel the mangoes before putting them in the pressure cooker. Put the pressure cooker on the flame and let it cook till the entire pressure is released.
Take out the mangoes from the pressure cooker and squeeze out its entire pulp. Pour the pulp in a separate mixture bowl.
Put mint leaves, black salt, salt, cumin powder and sugar in the bowl containing the pulp. Blend the mixture with a blender till it gets thin. Mix crushed ice into the bowl and blend the mixture again.
Depending on the sourness of the mangoes and your own taste requirements, add more of the other ingredients and blend the mixture again. For this, please taste the mixture before pouring it into a jar/glass.
Store the drink in a jar in the refrigerator for later use. At the time of serving, pass the drink through a fine sieve/strainer and stir it well. Serve the drink in a glass with a slice of lemon and garnish it with mint leaves.
Your ‘THANDA-THANDA’, ‘COOL-COOL’, aam panna is ready!
